12.20.20 Connelly's latest is another Mickey Haller book, which means legal drama. This time he's been arrested for a frame-job so it's an interesting perspective to take on the genre. The case itself feels pretty secondary to me though... if I were on the jury I'm not sure it was a slam dunk for Haller. What I found to be most effective was how scary jail sounds. I don't want any part of that shit. It's also a little interesting, since Connelly ages his characters in real time, to see how he portrays the early days of covid-19 in america. His next book should be pretty full of it i guess, unless he's taking a year off. As always, this read on fast forward. Super quick to get through even if the ending was a bit abrupt and anti-climactic. Total comfort food reading-wise.
