| 05.24.21 | His third for Hard Case Crime, and still not a great fit for the imprint in my opinion... but maybe the series has expanded its genre horizons since i stopped collecting them (most of which are still unread on the shelf) so who cares either way. This one is about a kid who can see dead people. Yep. It's ok... I feel like at this point in his career, anything Stephen King writes will be a pleasant read even if it's not exactly scary or super original or whatever... because his characters still feel nuanced and real, it doesn't really matter what the story is. So I think this one's pretty minor... not bad or anything but probably not so memorable either. I still remember liking Joyland (except the end) much more. I don't remember what The Colorado Kid is about at all so I guess I'd put this somewhere in the middle? On to the next! |
