| 12.06.24 | Molly got me this as a gift. It's mostly a reprinting of the first five series (which came out between 85 and 86) but with a forward by Art Spiegelman (of MAUS fame who also worked at Topps for a day job and wound up ringleading these cards which was news to me) and an afterward by artist John Pound who did the vast majority of the first few series paintings.
I suspect I'm not alone in this nostalgic fondness for these. I bet if you ask any Gen X / Xiennial 95 out of 100 would have some kind of memory of them. It's nice to have a well-designed little book available to look through them again without the hassle of digging through my storage unit or hunting on ebay. In a perfect world this would be volume 1 of 5 and I'd have a brightly-colored section of my bookshelf with high-res prints of all the cards, but I'm still glad someone somewhere at Topps thought it a good enough idea to put this book together. It even came with a few cards! |
