| 01.18.05 | I am seeing through Dan Brown's mystique i think. This book had a horrible title that set me up to expect everything in the first half of the book to be wrong. whoa! huge surprise! everything told in the first half of the book was wrong! Wow he vaguely kills someone off. WATCH OUT! HE'S NOT DEAD!!!1 So... if you combine this with the fact that I just read Crichton's State of Fear, which also has a section taking place in a super cold environment, this book didn't do much for me. I will say that toward the end, when he forgets about all the science and just has stuff happen, it's much more engaging as entertainment. Unfortunately though, when his subject matter isn't as interesting as roman artwork or ambigrams, he comes off closer to a Crichton rip than anything else. |
